Keeping you well at work

Work can take a lot out of you. Whether you're on your feet all day, at a desk, or somewhere in between, looking after your body and your mind makes a real difference to how you feel at work and away from it.

At reHealth, we support workers in every industry at every stage. That might mean recovering from an injury, managing the physical demands of your job, or simply staying on top of your health so small concerns don’t become bigger ones. Whatever you’re dealing with, we’re here to help you move forward with confidence.

We work with WorkCover and other funded programs to make accessing care as straightforward as possible.

Recovering from a workplace injury?

You don't need to work a labour-intensive job to get a work-related injury. While many people assume labourers and machinery operators are the only ones who get hurt, the truth is that anybody can get injured at work.

Office workers and professionals tend to get musculoskeletal conditions, usually from long hours spent working while sitting at a desk. And not every injury is physically visible: Mental health conditions make up 12% of serious claims.

How we aim to restore movement

Workplace injuries and concerns often need more than one type of care. A back injury might need hands-on physio and a tailored exercise program. A desk worker with chronic neck pain might benefit from treatment alongside ergonomic advice. Someone managing their mental health at work might see our psychologist while also working with an exercise physiologist.

As a multidisciplinary clinic, we bring the right people together around your situation. Your practitioner will assess what’s going on, factor in the demands of your work, and coordinate your care across our team.

Are you an employer?

A healthy team is good for everyone. We partner with businesses to support staff wellbeing, reduce injury risk and help employees return to work safely after injury. That can include workplace ergonomic assessments, injury prevention education for your team, and coordinated treatment and rehabilitation when someone does get hurt.
Our multidisciplinary team works alongside GPs, insurers and case managers to keep recovery on track, so your people get back to work with strength and confidence. Get in touch to find out how we can support your workplace.

Preventing workplace injuries

While it isn’t always possible to prevent an injury, there are ways you may be able to reduce your risk. Some of these include:

Preventive measures

Building strength, improving flexibility and maintaining good movement habits may all help to reduce physical strain. Things like regular exercise, taking rest breaks and managing aches and pains early may help to prevent small issues from turning into bigger ones.

Ergonomics

An ergonomic workstation may help to support better posture and reduce stress on the body during the day. Whether you work in an office, a physically demanding environment or from home, adjusting your desk setup, chair height and monitor position all play a role in possible injury prevention.

Workplace assessments

Workplace assessments aim to help identify things that could be contributing to pain, strain and reduced mobility. By assessing your work environment, physiotherapists or allied health practitioners may be able to recommend safer ways to move and potentially find the root cause of your work-related pain.

Our team are here to answer your questions

Whether you work with a physiotherapist, osteopath or another member of our team, we have the same goal as you: to help you return to work and everyday life comfortably.

Depending on your individual goals and your unique treatment plan, we generally aim to help you restore strength and movement, often with tailored exercises. We may also recommend techniques like massage, dry needling and other allied health services.

Another potential benefit is that we monitor you throughout the process. We also communicate with your employer, insurance company and other practitioners as we manage your injury, and give you clear guidance about WorkCover claims and procedures.

When booking your appointment, please let our team know that your claim is through WorkSafe. Prior to your appointment, you will need to provide your WorkSafe claim number, insurer details, and a copy of your approval (this can be emailed to or brought to the clinic). We will contact your insurer before your appointment to confirm your claim has been approved and that the relevant employer excess/threshold requirements have been met prior to treatment commencing.

If you have any referrals, scans or reports related to your injury, please bring these along to your appointment. Our team will guide you through the process and help make it as smooth as possible.

During your first appointment, we’ll get to know you and what’s brought you to our clinic. We’ll ask about what you do for work, how your injury happened and if you’ve done anything to address it before coming to us, like if you’ve seen your GP for healthcare.

We’ll then work together to create your treatment plan. In most cases, we start treatment that day, but if you prefer or if we run out of time, we can wait until your next appointment.

If you see us under an approved WorkSafe claim, we will typically bulk-bill your appointments and make claims on your behalf. This means you won’t have any out-of-pocket (gap) expenses in most cases.

If your claim has not yet been approved, or your employer has not yet met the required employer excess/threshold, payment will be required at the time of your appointment. You may then be able to claim this back through your employer or WorkSafe, where applicable. Once your claim is approved and eligible, we can bulk-bill and process claims on your behalf moving forward.

For accepted WorkSafe claims, employers are responsible for the initial employer excess/threshold amount for medical and like expenses before WorkSafe begins covering treatment costs.

If you’re unsure what applies to you, please contact our team prior to your first appointment.

Employers get WorkCover insurance to cover their employees if they get injured at work or if the injury is related to their work. WorkSafe then compensates those employees. You’ll need to tell your employer as soon as possible after the accident, as you’ll lose this cover if you don’t report it within 30 days.
In some cases, yes, they may contact our clinic to ask about your progress, treatment, recovery, or outcomes. They do this to make sure you’re getting appropriate, proven evidence-based treatment that aims to help you return to everyday life.
Yes, a referral from your GP is required for WorkCover claims.

If you spend long hours at a desk, your body may begin to focus more on comfort than ergonomics. After a while, this may take its toll!

Thankfully, even small changes may add up to make a big difference. We recommend:

  • Adjusting your chair height so your feet are flat on the floor and your knees are level with or slightly below your hips
  • Placing your monitor so that the top is at or a little below eye level
  • Using an adjustable or standing desk so you can alternate between sitting and standing
  • Stand up and walk around for two minutes on a regular basis
